1 Corinthians 15:11 "Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed."
1 Corinthians 15:11 "Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed."
The Bible is comprised of 66 books and 39 of those books are contained in the Old Testament.
All scripture shown on this website uses the King James Version which was made available to everyone without copyright by King James at the time of its original printing in 1611.
It was also written using the Old Testament Hebrew Masoretic texts that compile 5000 manuscripts that agree 95% of the time and came out of Jerusalem. The New Testament in the KJV used the Textus Receptus which was written by Desiderius Erasmus in 1511 using manuscripts that came out of Antioch and Byzantine and also utilized Syriac texts that were written about 100 after Jesus' time on earth. After the King James Version was released, there was more revival around the world from 1611 to 1881 than any other time in history.
In the Old Testament, God required a blood sacrifice to be made for the remission of sin.
Leviticus 17:11 it states, "For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul."
So, if someone knowingly sinned, and depending on their position, they would have to bring an unblemished bull, goat, or lamb to be sacrificed with the shedding of blood to please God.
Leviticus 4:13-32:
"13 And if the whole congregation of Israel sin through ignorance, and the thing be hid from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done somewhat against any of the commandments of the Lord concerning things which should not be done, and are guilty;
14 When the sin, which they have sinned against it, is known, then the congregation shall offer a young bullock for the sin, and bring him before the tabernacle of the congregation.
15 And the elders of the congregation shall lay their hands upon the head of the bullock before the Lord: and the bullock shall be killed before the Lord.
16 And the priest that is anointed shall bring of the bullock's blood to the tabernacle of the congregation:
17 And the priest shall dip his finger in some of the blood, and sprinkle it seven times before the Lord, even before the vail.
18 And he shall put some of the blood upon the horns of the altar which is before the Lord, that is in the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall pour out all the blood at the bottom of the altar of the burnt offering, which is at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
19 And he shall take all his fat from him, and burn it upon the altar.
20 And he shall do with the bullock as he did with the bullock for a sin offering, so shall he do with this: and the priest shall make an atonement for them, and it shall be forgiven them.
21 And he shall carry forth the bullock without the camp, and burn him as he burned the first bullock: it is a sin offering for the congregation.
22 When a ruler hath sinned, and done somewhat through ignorance against any of the commandments of the Lord his God concerning things which should not be done, and is guilty;
23 Or if his sin, wherein he hath sinned, come to his knowledge; he shall bring his offering, a kid of the goats, a male without blemish:
24 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the goat, and kill it in the place where they kill the burnt offering before the Lord: it is a sin offering.
25 And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out his blood at the bottom of the altar of burnt offering.
26 And he shall burn all his fat upon the altar, as the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings: and the priest shall make an atonement for him as concerning his sin, and it shall be forgiven him.
27 And if any one of the common people sin through ignorance, while he doeth somewhat against any of the commandments of the Lord concerning things which ought not to be done, and be guilty;
28 Or if his sin, which he hath sinned, come to his knowledge: then he shall bring his offering, a kid of the goats, a female without blemish, for his sin which he hath sinned.
29 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin offering, and slay the sin offering in the place of the burnt offering.
30 And the priest shall take of the blood thereof with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar.
31 And he shall take away all the fat thereof, as the fat is taken away from off the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall burn it upon the altar for a sweet savour unto the Lord; and the priest shall make an atonement for him, and it shall be forgiven him.
32 And if he bring a lamb for a sin offering, he shall bring it a female without blemish.
33 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin offering, and slay it for a sin offering in the place where they kill the burnt offering.
34 And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar:
35 And he shall take away all the fat thereof, as the fat of the lamb is taken away from the sacrifice of the peace offerings; and the priest shall burn them upon the altar, according to the offerings made by fire unto the Lord: and the priest shall make an atonement for his sin that he hath committed, and it shall be forgiven him.
Understanding the blood sacrifice in the Old Testament that God commanded for the remission of a person's sin is essential in understanding how it relates to the New Testament. Life is in the blood and without the shedding of it, there can be no remission of sin.
Now, the differences between the Old Testament and the New Testament are many. For starters, the Old Testament required obeying The Law of Moses (Malachi 4:4) and The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17). There were also many "works" that involved dietary laws (Leviticus 11 & Deuteronomy 14), rituals (Leviticus, Exodus 29:28-43, 19:11-13, Numbers 28: 3-13), and things like circumcision for males (Genesis 17:10, Leviticus 12:3, Romans 2:25).
In the New Testament, John the Baptist arrived in Judea, and he was a fulfillment of Old Testament prophesy.
Isaiah 40:3-5:"The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it."
Matthew 3:1-3: "In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,
2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight."
John the Baptist, made the way for the coming Messiah (Jesus) by baptizing Jews. In the Old Testament, Jews used water as a ritual for cleansing, so John the Baptist baptized individuals for repentance of sin and that they would receive the Holy Ghost. Remember, these were Jews and not Gentiles and they believed John the Baptist in proclaiming that the Messiah (Jesus) was coming.
Matt 3:11 "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire."
Jesus himself let John The Baptist immerse him in water for baptism, not because Jesus needed to repent as he was sinless and he surely didn't need the Holy Ghost because he was the Son of God. He let him baptize him to fulfill Old Testament prophesy.
Malachi 3:1: "Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts."
Matthew 3:13-17
"13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
So, as you read above, the Old Testament made way for what was to happen in the New Testament in relation to people, their sin, and the need for atonement to become right with God. Atonement and salvation are aligned with what Jesus did on the cross by shedding his own blood for you and me. It's what is called the Gospel in which the Apostle Paul revealed to everyone and it allowed not only Jews but also Gentiles an opportunity to receive eternal salvation!
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures."
Hebrews 9:15 "And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance."
1 Corinthians "But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption."
So now you have a knowledge of the Gospel (that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day) and may have even read it or heard it preached before.
Maybe in the past, you prayed for God to help you with something or just went along with how you were raised either with or without some belief system. We can ponder things in our mind, say things with our speech, see things with our eyes, hear things with our ears, and also believe- understand - and have faith in something with our heart. You have to first hear the Gospel preached, understand it, and then believe it with all your heart.
Matthew 13:15 "For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them."
Jeremiah 29:13 "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."
2 Tim 2:22 "Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
Romans 10: 8-13 "But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Jesus was God in human form on earth (Isaiah 9:6 & John 1:14) and gave up his own life for everyone past, present, and future as the final blood sacrifice - Isaiah 53:5 "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed". Romans 5:8:"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us".
It's no longer sacrificing of animals of the Old Testament or the baptizing that John the Baptist did to forgive a person's sin. You, like all humans are a sinner and cannot just live your life in any manner you want that goes against the will of God. You need to acknowledge you are a lost sinner and in need of the saving grace of substitutionary blood atonement that Jesus provided by the shedding his blood on the cross for everyone past, present, and future. You don't attain eternal salvation for following the Law of Moses, the Ten Commandments, good works, any good deed, or living a good life.
You have been granted an opportunity by God, and it's up to you to accept that grace by having faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, where he died, was buried, and rose again on the third day in fulfillment of scripture, for the forgiveness of all sin. It's not about any religion, just Jesus.
SO, YOU'RE SAVED BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH IN THE BLOOD of JESUS CHRIST!
Romans 3:22-28:
"Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law."
1 Timothy 2:5-6: "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time."
1 John 1:7: "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."
John 1:17: "For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ."
Ephesians 1:7: " In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace".
Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
1 Peter 1:18-19: "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:"
Galatians 2:16: "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified."
Now if you have followed along and read everything above, you can understand that a blood sacrifice was needed to forgive sins to be right with God and it started in the Old Testament.
Since Jesus was that final blood sacrifice, all it takes is for you to have faith in the blood of Jesus Christ to be saved from eternal damnation. If you truly believe that the blood Jesus shed for you on the cross for the forgiveness of all sin, and that Jesus died, was buried, and rose on the third day in fulfillment of the scriptures, then the Bible says you are saved!
SALVATION is all about GRACE THROUGH FAITH and NOT WORKS!
Ephesians 2:8: "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."
There is nothing you have to do other than have faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
Yes, you can acknowledge your sins and thank God for your salvation, but there is no one time prayer to recite or "works" that you have to do.
Again, If you truly believe in the Gospel and have faith that the blood Jesus shed on the cross was for the remission of your sin, then you are saved! Jesus was the final blood atonement!
Titus 3:5-7: "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life."
If the Lord has brought you here to read and understand all of this and you got SAVED.......
TO GOD, BE THE GLORY!
THANK YOU, JESUS!
YOU NOW HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT INSIDE OF YOU!
Now if you have chosen to be saved, there are things you need to realize. You are no longer the same person. Physically you are, but spiritually you are now sealed with the Holy Spirit which now dwells inside of you!
The Devil wants nothing more than am ignorant Christian to manipulate back into old sinful habits and keep you from growing in the faith. You now have the Holy Spirit within you and the more you work with the Spirit the more the Spirit can work to guide you every single day!
This is done by living a life that is Christlike and not of this world, praying daily, avoiding people- places - and things that cause you to sin, and getting involved in a good bible believing church that preaches the Gospel......and get a Bible to read and study!
Ephesians 1:13-14:
"In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
James 1:22: " But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves."
2 Timothy 2:15: "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
Matthew 18:20: "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."
You are forgiven of all previous sin in God's eyes, and all your old sinful ways, habits, and attitude should be cast aside, and you should strive to be a better person like Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
Rom 12:2: "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
Ephesians 4:22-32:
"That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
27 Neither give place to the devil.
28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
The Holy Spirit is part of what is known as The Trinity - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Ghost)
2 Corinthians 13: "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen."
The Holy Spirit guides you and the more you read and study the Bible, the more knowledge you gain to combat the Devil and all of his ways. You work with the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit is able to effectively work with you. If you become saved and fall back into habitual sin, you should be convicted inside. Continual sin and no regard for God, can quench the Spirit's effectiveness because you're not doing your part.
1 Thessalonians 5:19-28
"Quench not the Spirit.
Despise not prophesyings.
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Abstain from all appearance of evil.
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
Brethren, pray for us.
Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen."
Rom 8:26-27 "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God."
1 Cor 12:7 "But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal."
Now, just because you are saved doesn't mean you won't sin anymore. We are human beings and we all sin. But as a Christian you make every effort to keep from sinning and when you do, you ask the person you offended for forgiveness and then ask God.
James 5:16: " Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Psalm 32:5: "I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah."
Jesus encouraged the disciples to share the Gospel with others. Remember, at that time the message was still to the Jews and to baptize in water. The Apostle Paul had yet to be converted with message of faith without the works, and Jesus' command to share the Gospel is what we are required to do.
Some ways are subtle, and other ways are direct. You have to decide how to share it, but when you are standing as a saved Christian in your glorified body at the Judgement Seat of Christ, he will make known what you did for him.
Matthew 28:19-20 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
